Hi friends! Vacation vibes here, but the temporary selection at Systembolaget keeps delivering. This week I found two long time favorites, and while I’m pretty sure I’ve recommended both of them before they are still worth picking up. Cheers! 🍷
Scarpa Pelaverga – #94203 – 219:-
This is like all of Piedmont jammed into a single bottle. The nose bring out both red cherries and roses, and there is a solid backbone to make this more than just “nice”. Drink with a Salsicca Pasta, and make sure to thank Dionysus for creating Pelaverga. 100% Pelaverga.
Sybille Kuntz Riesling Trocken – #95025 – 229:-
Dry Rielsing from Mosel. Not much else needs to be said, so I’ll keep it very short: Wonderful nose, great acidity and great length! Have it with a greek salad and Salsicca. 100% Riesling.

Nerd zone: Mosel
Mosel is one of Germany’s most iconic wine regions, and for good reasons. It’s super steep, slate-covered slopes and winding river valleys create a unique microclimate for grape growing. The region is more or less synonymous with Riesling, and while the region is maybe most famous for very aromatic, off-dry, Riesling wines, there are exceptions - such as the one above.
The wines typically show very bright notes of green apple, lime, and white sometimes stone fruity notes. As with other Riesling, they come with very high acidity and this combination makes for remarkable ageing potential. Over time they develop sweet notes of honey, which is very very hard to resist.
But, and this is a pretty bit but, Mosel still offers excellent value compared to other top white wine regions. Entry-level wines from great wineries deliver outstanding quality at accessible prices, making them a great starting point for those looking to explore German Riesling
