Hi friends! Easter is coming in hot and you know what that means right? A shit load of eggs in different forms, and grilled lamb. And what do you drink with grilled lamb? Rhône wines of course! Two great options can be found below. Cheers! 🍷
Château Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape – #2811 – 349:-
Really great one from the standard selection, that you can usually find in both smaller and larger formats. Very bold, with loads of deep red plums and cherries. Super easy to like! Drink with grilled lamb. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvedre and bunch of other grapes.
Alain Graillot Crozes-Hermitage – #95183 – 349:-
A real beaut from the Northern Rhone. Darker in style compared to the Mont Redon above, with blackberries and pepper and fair amount of oak. Great acidity to match richer foods! Drink with…well, grilled lamb. 100% Syrah.

Nerd zone: GSM
If you’re a somewhat regular drinker of wine from the Rhône valley you will for sure stumble on the abbreviation GSM. Unlike the northern parts, where red wines are almost exclusively made from Syrah, almost all wines in the south are blends. The most famous recipie is called GSM, which stands for Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre.
Grenache brings red fruit, sweet flavors and high alcohol. Syrah adds a layer of dark fruit and a solid acidity. Mourvèdre is used to bring structure to the wines, and when you put them all together in an adequate proportions you can create a wine that is both layered, quite complex and easy to drink. They are often very fruit driven, with a hint of “garrigue” - typical French herbs, like rosemary and thyme.
Because of this fruity profile these wines are, again unlike Northern Rhone wines, more often than not made for early consumption. They are also fairly cheap. You can find great Côtes-du-Rhône wines for 150 SEK - more or less impossible in the North. Some of the more fancy appellations (which includes the above mentioned Châteauneuf-du-Pape) are of course pricey, but then again, that’s not your average GSM blend.
Love the offer! Will share come next newsletter 🥋❤️😎
